First Day of Fashion School! =D

Hello Luvies,

Ok so I haven't had any time to do anything so I'm going to combine 2 posts in one post here it goes..

Aaaaah I'm in New York, The Big City! Can't believe I'm finally here, not just here but actually living here, I LOVE IT! Living in the city feels so good lol walking everywhere, seeing new places and all the lights and busy streets, it really is the city that never sleeps :p

Moving here and moving in was really hectic hence why I haven't had any time to post about it, I've been buying necessities, buying school supplies, unpacking, organizing my new place, it really is a lot of things to do. Anywho after a week of moving in and orientation and meeting new people and a little bit of exploring, the day that I have been waiting 6 months for was finally here. THE FIRST DAY OF FASHION SCHOOL! =D

My first day was AMAZING! I had 2 classes and both teachers were so nice and helpful, I could tell that I'm really going to enjoy the classes. I think I'm going to enjoy all the classes, why wouldn't I they're fashion classes, I mean seriously it doesn't get any better than this. For my first project in one of the classes I get to design a swimwear collection, how cool is that? Aaaah I'm so excited I already have thoughts and ideas of what I wanna do! :)

Ok my school is amazing! Walking down the hallways there are dresses and gowns and lingerie and children's clothing and sketches designed by students all displayed in different hallways around the school. Just walking around and being surrounded with these things makes it soo fashion school. And our library has one of THE LARGEST FASHION COLLECTION in the country, I'm not just talking books, but magazines. Vogue, Harpers Bazaar from the 1930's! That's Crazy! Ive seen them with my own eyes and I was just amazed at the things they have in this library. They have fashion forecasts from different designers. The designers donate them to the school. Since they are fashion forecasts you can't really check them out or scan, or copy them. You can just look at them in a small little area and return them when you are done. They have fashion forecasts for 2013 already! 2012 just started aaah I'm def going to take a look at those :p The library also has garments from different designers that either the school bought or that have been donated and you can actually go look at these garments, they also have garments from the 1950's till now MIND BLOWING def gonna go take a look at a few of those as well.

Seriously I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time at this fashion library it's like heaven for fashionistas. The students in this cool just WOW I feel like I'm at a fashion event, everyone is just fashionably dressed with soo many different styles and looks, I'm def going to do a post with a few pics of they're outfits :p

As far as my schedule, it's pretty full cuz I'm taking 7 classes :/ So we'll see how well I can manage blogging and school, I really wanna update you with my NYC adventures so I'll try as much as I can.

I'M MOVING TO NEW YORK! =D

After much anticipation I can finally share the great news! 

I'M MOVING TO NEW YORK! Ahh I can't believe my Dream is actually becoming a reality, it has always been my dream to live in New York. New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, every time I'm there I get this feeling that I can't get anywhere else, that feeling of inspiration, that feeling that makes u feel like u can conquer the world! Thats how New York makes me feel. 

Aaaaah I can't believe it, I Reem have been accepted to Fashion Institute of Technology's Fashion Design Program, the 2nd Top Fashion School in the US, The 5th Top Fashion School in the world! The Fashion School Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera graduated from. That school ladies and gentlemen is the school I got accepted to =D the way I'm feeling right now is unexplainable, hard work definitely pays off and when you want something this bad, you do whatever it takes to get it. I worked on their application for over a month, I had to submit a portfolio that took me a month to work on, I was under pressure and stressed and I've been impatiently waiting 5 months for this moment but it's finally here. 2012 is going to be an amazing year, it's going to be MY YEAR! I'm going to be living my dream of becoming a Fashion Designer in New York!  

Dreams do come true, you just gotta want it bad enough to make it happen. Only you can take charge of your dreams and turn them into a reality! ;)

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011 & Costume Illustrations

Watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and all I can say is one word FABULOUS! I swear the VS show amazes me every year, from the models, to the costumes, to the runway, to the artists. Everything about this show is just so Amazing :) I enjoyed every bit of it, can you believe Alessandra has been doing the show for 11 years! Her first show was in 2000. And Miranda Kerr who just had her baby looks absolutely stunning! She is 28 years-old and her son is not even a year old yet, he's 10 months. These women are truly hard working women. It takes a lot of work to be a Victoria's Secret Model, the amount of work and pressure they put on they're bodies to look flawless is just inspiring.

However I do have to say one thing, Girls you cannot look at these women and think I want my body to look like that, it is almost impossible to have that. These women, it's their job to workout and be fit for this show, a girl with a normal life, going to school or work can never keep up with the amount of workout a model does. Unless you stay at home, have a personal trainer for lets say 6 months then I guess you can say it's do-able. I'm just stating the facts and want you to see that that type of fit is unreal in our world. Now I'm not discouraging you from working out either, you can still workout and have a fabulous body, just make sure you keep in mind that model fit is not what you might get. I think being determined will give you what you want. Even if you're working or going to school or whatever it may be, if you are determined to workout everyday then it is possible and do-able and you will achieve results, believe me I have tried it and am not disappointed. I think this applies to everything else in life and not just working out, an individual that is hard-working and determined to succeed, will not stop till they do and they will get what they want.

I went on a bit of a ramble there didn't I? lol I know I just kinda contradicted myself there hehe but I have many thoughts and am trying to put them all out there :p Moving along here are some of my fav moments from the show including illustrations of the costumes, there were too many as I have already mentioned how fabulous this show was, I really tried to condense my choices, you can see the rest of the outfits by watching the show, I have posted the video below. I also think I have decided that Miranda Kerr is my favorite Angel :) Although I also like Behati and Candice, I guess I just named my Top 3!

Miami Art walk

Wynwood Art Walk 2011


Hello my gorgeous people!
          Known for its underground art community, Wynwood Art District Miami is home to hundreds of art galleries, starving street artists, Miami Funk fashion week, live entertainers, music venues, and hundreds of other art and culture events that are held every year here. Thankfully, the district celebrates its art culture by throwing a bloc party every second saturday of every month known as "Miami Art Walk". On this particular night, it doesn't matter if you drive a Benz or peddle a 1983 Schwinn to the event, art lovers come from all over with diverse cultures and lifestyles to celebrate. Whether to buy, sell, network, discover, promote, admire or simply grab free alcohol and ice cream, Wynwood's Art walk bloc party does it all in one night. Finally found the perfect opportunity to go with my photographer friend and hit the streets of Wynwood. It was a night full of inspiration and admiration for those who put their passion before anything. Not to mention, the incredible mix of great fashion of art goers. Check out the pics!

DVF comes to south beach!

Hello my gorgeous people! 
      To continue our admiration of Diane Von Furstenberg's summer/spring collection 2012, I want to share her live fashion show at Bal Harbour's Saks in South Beach while she was visiting earlier this month. Beautiful models strided and posed through the colorfully decorated store while the crowd mingled and enjoyed drinks and appetizers. While she sat in the center of the platform, she shared a few words with her fans about her journey as a fashion designer and what it really took for her to be the woman she is today. I was fortunate enough to say a few words to her after shoving my way through large purses and tip toeing through stiletto pumps. DVF SS2012 collection is youthful and modern with vintage inspiration from a mixture of decades of great fashion!
