Be Fit. Be Happy.

Hello Ladies,

Sorry that I have not been consistent with my blog posts—I have been busy with work. However, as promised, here is my post on Be Fit Be Happy. I will share a few suggestions of some workout and eating habits that have helped me stay in shape and healthy.

Your health is critical and a good workout is a great energy boost, no less if you are a working woman.

Join a Gym:

My gym--Lucille Roberts--offers Zumba and Kickboxing, which are my two favorite gym classes. I love both classes because they incorporate toning exercises and cardio. Both classes allow me to sing along to songs or join everyone with the count, which helps me release all the stress that I may be holding on to.

Being that I work full-time, I typically go to the gym three times a week. When my schedule permits, I go four or five times weekly. When I do not attend a gym class, I do 15-20 minutes of cardio (treadmill or elliptical) and 30-35 minutes of toning/weights. During cardio, I increase my resistance every 2 minutes.

I typically workout different parts of my body every time, as I may fatigue my muscles if I do otherwise.

Find a Physical Activity You Enjoy:

If you do not enjoy working out, I recommend trying out a physical activity that you are comfortable with and enjoy—walking, jogging, running, riding a bike, swimming, etc.

I have a friend, who I will refer to as Mary, who dislikes to workout and due to health complications cannot perform heavy physical activity. I encouraged her to find an activity that she would enjoy and would not be detrimental to her health.

Mary signed up for yoga and absolutely loves it. She attends yoga once a week. She says that it is a great stress reliever and gives her time to think of absolutely nothing—something we all need to do once in a while. For cardio, she takes 30 minutes walks on the weekends.

Being healthy and staying fit does not just require physical activity. Eating right is also necessary.

I eat anything and everything. However, the secret is to eat small portions and avoid eating late night snacks. I eat about 5 times a day—breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner. I fill my draw at work with 100calorie snack bars, peanuts, cereal bars and fruits.

I tend to have a sweet tooth and I do not deprive myself. I indulge in all types of desserts modestly. On weekdays, when I go to bed early, I do not eat after 8:30 p.m. On the weekends or when I am out to dinner with friends I am less rigid with my eating habit, but am still conscience of what I eat.

Last but not least, looking great requires feeling great. Always smile and maintain a positive attitude. So set realistic and reachable goals. The ideal weight is that one that makes you feel confident.

Remember: Success or failure is caused more by mental attitude than by mental capacities-Sir Walter Scott

…and in this case, physical capacities. ;)

Please do not feel obligated to follow my recommendations. What may be effective for me may or may not be effective for you. Consult your physician or a certified trainer, if you have questions.

Until next time ladies!

Love,
Lin

Featured in Grazia Middle East Magazine!

Hey Luvies,

I was featured in Grazia Middle East February Issue Style Hunter! Check it out :) Only thing I AM NOT 26! Ugh I was so angry when I saw that, how could they make me 4 years older than what I am? That was really an unforgivable mistake, especially since the editor wrote down all my info together in one paragraph, how could you switch my age with someone else's? doesn't make sense! Anywho check out the pics below and check out behind the scenes photos of the photoshoot!
